World Cup 2026 Schedule — Every Stage, Key Dates, and When to Watch
The 2026 World Cup is the biggest one ever — 48 teams, 104 matches, 39 days across the USA, Canada, and Mexico. I put together this schedule guide so you can plan which matches to watch, when the big moments happen, and how to make sure you don't miss anything. Here's the full picture.
June 11 to July 19, 2026. 104 matches. Three host nations. The first World Cup with 48 teams. Here's every key date, every stage, and the moments you don't want to miss — with everything in one place so you can plan your summer around the football.
2026 World Cup — What Makes This Tournament Different
The biggest change from every previous tournament is the new Round of 32. After the group stage, all 32 advancing teams play single-elimination knockout matches before the Round of 16. That's an extra round nobody has ever seen at a World Cup before — and it means 16 knockout games in just six days at the end of June.
Group Stage — June 11 to June 27
The group stage runs for 17 days with 72 matches across all three host nations. 48 teams are split into 12 groups of 4. The top two teams from each group, plus the eight best third-place finishers, advance to the Round of 32 — 32 teams total.
During the final days of the group stage, multiple matches run at exactly the same time — teams in the same group play simultaneously so neither knows the other's result until both games are finished. These are the matches where you want more than one screen or a service that lets you switch between feeds instantly.
Canada vs Bosnia and Herzegovina — June 12, BMO Field, Toronto. Canada vs Qatar — June 18, BC Place, Vancouver. Canada vs Switzerland — June 24, BC Place, Vancouver. Canada plays every group game in Canada for the first time in history.
USA vs Paraguay — June 12, SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, 9 PM ET. USA vs Australia — June 19, Lumen Field, Seattle, 3 PM ET. USA vs UEFA Playoff C winner — June 25, SoFi Stadium, Los Angeles, 10 PM ET.
Knockout Stages — Round of 32 Through the Final
This is where the 2026 World Cup becomes unlike anything that's come before. The new Round of 32 means six straight days of sudden-death football at the end of June. Lose and you go home. Every match matters completely.
The quarter-finals and semi-finals are when global viewership hits its absolute peak. These are the matches where hundreds of millions of people are watching simultaneously — and where the difference between a streaming service that holds up and one that doesn't becomes very obvious very fast.
If you're planning to use IPTV or any streaming service for the tournament, test it during a busy live event before June 28. The Round of 32 is not the time to discover your provider can't handle the load.
Canada and USA Host Cities — What's Playing Where
Toronto hosts 6 matches including Canada's historic opening game on June 12. BMO Field has been temporarily expanded to 45,000 seats for the tournament. This is the first World Cup match ever played in Toronto. The stadium's final World Cup game is a Round of 32 fixture on July 2.
Vancouver hosts 7 matches — the most of any Canadian city. Canada plays their second and third group games here on June 18 and June 24. BC Place also hosts a Round of 32 and a Round of 16 fixture, meaning matches run in Vancouver right through to July 7. The retractable roof means weather is never a factor.
SoFi Stadium hosts the USA's opening game on June 12 and their final group game on June 25. It's the largest venue in the US portion of the tournament and will host deep knockout-round matches. Both USMNT LA games kick off at 9–10 PM ET — late nights for East Coast viewers.
MetLife Stadium hosts the World Cup Final on July 19 at 3 PM ET. Capacity over 82,000 — the largest venue in the tournament. It's the home stadium of both the New York Giants and Jets. The Final airs live on Fox in the US and on CTV/TSN in Canada — free over the air in both countries.
How to Watch Every Match — Quick Summary
In Canada, the matches are split across CTV (free), TSN, and RDS. In the US, Fox broadcasts 70 matches for free over the air and FS1 carries the rest — Telemundo and Universo have everything in Spanish.
If you want all 104 matches in one place — every feed, every language, no switching between apps — an IPTV subscription is the most straightforward option. One login, every broadcaster, every device you already own. The full guide to what to look for and which service holds up during the knockout rounds when viewership peaks is here:
